Understanding Categories

In the Pagamio VAS system, product categories provide a way to organize products by type, functionality, or vendor. Understanding categories is essential for efficiently discovering and purchasing VAS products.

Category Organization

Each product belongs to a category, which groups similar products together.
Categories may be top-level or nested, allowing hierarchical organization for easier browsing.
Example categories include:
- Airtime – Prepaid airtime products for different mobile operators
- Data – Internet bundles and data packages
- Electricity – Prepaid electricity vouchers for various providers
- SMS – Bulk or individual SMS products
- Vouchers – Gift cards, promotional, or loyalty vouchers

Category Structure

Each category has:
- ID: Unique identifier for API requests
- Name: Human-readable name
- Meta fields: Define the required request fields and receipt fields for purchases
- Image URL: Optional visual representation of the category
Categories allow developers to dynamically fetch the necessary fields for purchases and receipts.

Using Categories to Find Products

Use the /products/categories endpoint to retrieve all available categories.
Once a category is selected, fetch the list of products via /products/category/{categoryId}.
Dynamic meta fields in each category ensure that the correct request payload and receipt information are used for purchases.
